Questions & Straight Answers
What drivers, dispatchers, and fleet managers ask before they call — and what we tell them.
Is there mobile truck repair in Yuma, AZ?
Yes — Yuma Diesel & Truck Repair sends a mechanic to your truck anywhere in the Yuma area: I-8 from the Colorado River to Dateland, US-95 from San Luis to the Proving Ground gate, the cooler district, fleet yards, and the farm valleys. Call or text (928) 256-5150.
How does mobile truck repair work?
You call with what's down and where it sits — yard, dock, field, or mile marker. Dispatch talks to the mechanic rolling to you, you get an honest ETA and a written quote, and the repair happens at the truck. No tow to a shop queue, no national breakdown network reselling your call.
What can you actually fix outside a shop?
Most of what parks trucks: air and brake system problems, belts and hoses, cooling systems, batteries, charging and starting, fuel issues, sensors and emissions faults behind derates, trailer lights and wiring, doors, landing gear, liftgates, and reefer-unit diesel/electrical failures. In-frame engine work, transmission internals, and frame work need a bay — we say so at diagnosis, in writing.
How much does mobile truck repair cost?
Every job is quoted individually, in writing, before work starts. Heavy repair varies too much by failure, parts, and location for a published flat rate to be honest. You approve the number first — no work begins on a maybe.
Do you charge a callout fee?
Distance and situation are part of the quote, and they're in the written number before we roll — never a surprise line on the invoice afterward.
How fast can you get to a breakdown?
Inside Yuma during business hours, usually within the hour depending on the board. The Foothills, Somerton, and San Luis corridors are normal same-day response; Wellton and east get honest drive-time ETAs. Loaded reefers and harvest-critical equipment jump the line.
What are your hours? Do you answer after hours?
Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM Arizona time (we don't change clocks here). After hours, roadside emergencies should still call — if a truck is out, we answer, and in produce season the phone gets picked up late more often than not. We don't claim a staffed 24/7 desk.
My truck is in derate. Can you clear it where it sits?
Usually — most derates trace to the DEF system, DPF/regen trouble, or a sensor, and we bring the diagnostic tooling to read the chain, test the components, and fix the cause on-site when parts allow. See the diesel diagnostics page for how those calls work.
Do you work on reefers, and what does "produce priority" mean?
Yes — reefer trailers and their units are a core lane. Produce priority means that in season, a loaded, alarming reefer or a down harvest-critical machine goes to the front of the board. Yuma ships the country's winter vegetables; we schedule like it.
What trucks and equipment do you work on?
Class 7–8 tractors (Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, International, Volvo, Mack and their Cummins/Detroit/PACCAR power), medium-duty and box trucks, trailers of every type, reefer units, diesel pickups that work for a living, and diesel farm equipment — tractors, harvest support rigs, water trucks, and irrigation pump engines.
Do you do DOT inspections repairs?
We fix out-of-service and flagged items — brakes, lights, airlines, steering, securement — where the vehicle sits and document what was measured and replaced, so re-inspection is a formality. Standing fleet customers get DOT readiness built into their PM schedule.
Can you service our fleet at the yard before morning dispatch?
That's the flagship booking: PM services, brake measurements, and DOT items at your lot at 7 AM before the trucks roll, or evenings after they're home. Per-unit written records included.
A national breakdown network already covers us. Why call you?
Call whoever gets a competent mechanic to your truck fastest. Our difference is structural: you talk to dispatch for the mechanic, not a call center marking up whoever accepts the ticket — which usually means straighter ETAs, straighter quotes, and no games on the invoice.
Do you cross the border for repairs in Mexico?
No — U.S. side only. Once your rig is across at San Luis, we can meet it at the first safe staging spot.
Do you use new parts, and is the work guaranteed?
Quality new or reputable remanufactured parts appropriate to the job, part warranties passed through to you, and we stand behind the workmanship — if something we touched isn't right, call and we'll make it right.
What should I do while waiting for you on the interstate?
Get as far off the travel lane as safely possible — wide shoulder, ramp, or pull-out. Triangles out, flashers on, stay on the non-traffic side of the rig, and keep water in reach; this is the desert. Then text us your pin or mile marker and a photo of the dash or damage.
What areas do you serve?
Yuma, Fortuna Foothills, Somerton, Gadsden, San Luis, Wellton, Ligurta, Tacna, Dome Valley, the Yuma and Gila Valley farm grids, and Winterhaven/Bard across the river — plus the I-8 and US-95 corridors that tie it together. Edge cases: call and get a straight answer.
How do I get started?
Call or text (928) 256-5150 with what's down and where it's sitting, or send the quote form. You'll get a real ETA and a written quote before any work starts.
